We are locally to have such a great store in the back bay. I love Patagonia. The clothes are so damn durable and comfortable. The return policy is one of the best…no matter how old it is, if something is wrong, they will exchange it.

Patagonia also has a great recycling program where you can bring in old threads that Patagonia uses to make new clothes. I have also seen Patagonia show support for local charities and philanthropies.

Its quite rare nowadays that companies actually practice what they preach...Well done, Bravo.

Hipster, Bike Messenger, Vegetarian, Vegan, and otherwise displaced Bostonian haven. I remember the first time I walked in otherside, shortly after moving from NYC, I saw PBR on tap for $2.50 and felt right back at home.

This place is cool. Part Café/Part Grocery and half organic lunch haven…this is an eco lovers dream.

Nestled in Jamaica Plain, City Feed sells locally grown produce and organic goods.

After shopping, Vegans and vegetarians can head to the deli and get a tofu sandwich or fresh salad. For carnivores, the deli also sells nitrate free meat. All of the sandwiches are made on fresh local bread from Iggy’s.

If your appetite is still unsatisfied, grab a vegan muffin and a cup of Equal Exchange coffee…mmm so, so good.

Green, green, green...this funky Cambridge store is the epicenter of eco-friendly consumerism in Porter Square. The store has a simple philosophy, it only sells products that are : made from recycled materials, recyclable, made from organic materials, handmade, made from sustainable materials, energy efficient, biodegradable, educational. The store sells everything from electricity usage monitors to jewelry to baby and dog toys…the store pretty much covers it all.

Its hard to believe that ER is a chain with its organic offerings, fair trade coffee and vegan muffins…but it is!

This place is perfect for a cup of joe and bagel with hummus while you peruse your favorite blogs via free wifi.

This Allston gem is worth the hike. Grasshopper is a vegan or vegetarians fast food dream. Most Asian restaurants have vegan or vegetarian fare on their menu, however it is fried or made with tons of salt and oil etc etc. Grasshopper is like gourmet Asian that caters to vegans.

The décor is nothing to write home about, but that is not we are here is it. The food is amazing, some of my favorites are : Vegi-Pizza, Vegetarian Tempura, Sauteed Kale. Every third Sunday there is a lunch buffet.

The prices are decent and service is friendly and prompt.

Middle East

Middle East consists of two restaurants and three music venues all of which contain a bar and hell of a lot of fun. This staple is located in Central Square and offers up something different everynight of the week.

The restaurant is really really good. The menu is mostly middle eastern/Mediterranean fare, all of which is executed traditionally. The hummus, tabouli, couscous, spinach pie is all to die for...Carnivores have no fear, the lamb and steak dishes are house specialties as well.

Ever since moving to ye old Brookline Ive had the delight of cruising around the neighbor and sampling different offerings. One of my favorites is DOK BUA, a tried and true authentic Thai Restaurant in Coolidge Corner.

Dok Bua reminds me of the real deal Thai places on First Ave in the East Village. Decked out Christmas light strings, Candles, altars, Buddhist statues, fish tanks, etc... this place does not play around.

Nowadays, wine tasting is happening in every nook and corner shop from Back Bay to South Shore (it seems people buy more when they are sporting a slight wine buzz…its amazing this didn’t catch on years ago). The one problem with this mass tasting trend is mass waste from cheap plastic cups. Not only do these cups get tossed in the garbage, but glasses are really essential for a proper tasting.

Brookline Booksmith is your answer for all your literary needs, used or otherwise. If your tired of all the high end antiquarian used book shops in the city, hop on the C line and get off at Coolidge Corner. BB has it all fiction, fantasy, folklore, philosophy….etc…

The real gem here is right down stairs where you will stumble upon aisles of used books, some new, some old. I found a great edition of Hemingway’s Garden of Eden for $4. This a great place to stack up the old library or find some cheap gifts.
