Bagel rising is the closest you can get to a good NYC bagel in Allston. Nothing beats a good bagel with lox and cream cheese and theirs is definitely the best in the area. Everything is fresh and delicious, while the menu also includes tons of nontraditional bagelfare like their super cinnamon and mixed berry bagels. There are lots of spreads and toppings to choose from with plenty of vegan and vegetarian friendly choices.

Green dog grooming? who would have thought, but this place has really made a positive effort to be environmentally conscious. Using recycled toys, organic beds, and renewable cat litter are just some of the great ideas that make Brookline dog grooming stand out from the rest of the pack. They offer a variety of services beyond grooming for your pet like daycare, training, and pet supplies. In business for over 30 years, the staff really cares about your pet and it shows in the service. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else

Reef cafe rules and everything tastes fresh and homemade. The guy always behind the counter is incredibly nice, and I once watched half of Detroit Rock City with him while eating my food. The whole menu is very tasty, but my favorites would have to be the falafel, chicken shwarma an vegetarian platter which comes with enough food to feed two. I love how you can get nearly everything on the menu in a pita roll up sandwich almost making the place like a Lebanese sub shop. Every sandwich comes with pickles inside!

My go to thai place in the allston area. The staff is very friendly and food is pretty good too. I usually get the crispy chicken pad thai which is second only to Nud Pob's down by BU. Their Tom Yum soup is also very good with a decent amount of chicken, shrimp and mushrooms thrown inside. They used to have some decent noodle soups too, but for some reason don't offer them on the menu anymore. Thai place is nowhere near as good as the famous Brown Sugar Cafe, but for hole in the wall thai this is the place to go.

everyone knows this place is famous for the beer. One of the best selections in the area. The thing that really makes this place great though are the nachos. HUGE portion, fully loaded with guac, sour cream, cheese, hot peppers, basically everything you could possiblely want on nachos. Make sure to get the chili (they offer veggie, chicken or meat) on the side in order to keep your chips from getting soggy. The burgers are pretty good too. They're beer steamed which is an interesting twist and they also offer a damn good veggie burger.

Overrated but still good. Skip the burritos and go for the quesadilla which is similarly made but with melted cheese and a toasted, crispy, tortilla. The salsa is excellent and I could just eat it with their chips and some guacamole for a meal. For better food , head over to el pelon. They serve tortas, which for some reason is absent from the anna's menu, use a great hot sauce, and the burritos are much better overall.

This place is incredibly hit or miss, but certain dishes make it the perfect place for vegetarians and vegans to pig out. The No Name, Grasshopper's take on sesame chicken is probably the best thing on the menu. The deep fried seitan comes in a portion that's easily enough for 2-3 meals, but will probably make you feel disgustingly sick afterward due to the heavy sauce that smothers the dish. The fake chicken fingers are equally as good with a batter that tastes just like a fortune cookie.

my favorite greasy Chinese take out place in allston. In my opinion, the best test of a chinese place is their wonton soup and Dragon Wok does not disappoint. You get a choice between chicken or BBQed pork added to your soup, and I can't think of any other place that does that. Plus they also load it with veggies like bok choy and mushrooms. Definitely a positive change from the typical boring broth and wonton. The all day specials are the dishes to get here for those on a budget. They all cost around $7 and can feed you for 2 meals at least.

Like the reviewer below me, I really want to like this place. An all vegan pizza and sub shop that also hold shows, supports local music and other great causes sounds wonderful, but in all honesty the pizza is some of the worst I've ever had in my life. The crust tastes worse than cardboard and the sauce would make any pizza lover cringe. I've never had a vegan cheese that I liked, but not being vegan myself others might find it passable. The subs are much better, but nothing special. Again, its the cheese that grosses me out. Come to the events and shows, skip the food
