Community Guidelines

As of May 24, 2008

IzzitGreen is a community of real people who work together to answer the questions: "Is it good?" and "IzzitGreen?” In doing so, we share our ideas about the companies, services, and products that we are fans of and the ones wish would do better. We welcome you to our community, and encourage you to join in the conversation. We do have a few rules, which we are committed to enforcing, as well as our Terms of Service.

Our Philosophy

When it comes to collection and use of personal information, our guiding principles are:

Be Yourself

People want to have conversations with real people. This is your local community and we encourage you to be be yourself online, and not adopt a persona of “AlGore”. This isn’t mandatory, but we encourage it. We find we have better experiences when we are who we say we are and can stand behind our own words.

Get Involved

Our community is open to all,and we encourage you to take the first steps to introduce yourself at the party. Find people that you respect and cultivate relationships with them.. You will find that this not only enriches your experience, but also helps you find the types of businesses or products that you are looking for. Share the things that you are passionate about, and others will in turn find you.

Keep Laughing

Life is short, and our community believes a healthy sense of humor helps us get through the day. That being said, understand that humor shouldn’t come at the expense of others, no matter how well you think you may know that person. This means no ethnic, racial, or other inappropriate humor. Sarcasm or dry humor often times does not translate well online.

Be Authentic

The key to being a successful reviewer or contributor is to be clear about what you are. Don’t mis-represent yourself or the relationships you have. Let’s face it, we all have our own biases, but we don’t need to layer hidden agendas on top of them. It takes all types in a community like ours to make for a good conversation. Whether you just bought your first gallon of organic milk yesterday or spent the last five years designing your green dream home, this community is for you.

Stay Positive

Never assume the worst, whether it is a business you are reviewing or a community member that you are having a discussion with, always give the other person the benefit of the doubt. Businesses, no matter how small or how great, all have people behind them, starting with the assumption that those people are trying to do the right thing leads to healthier dialog. Converations and dialogue about the environment and sustainability can easily deteriorate and turn negative, but it’s our feeling that positive, encouraging dialog is the key to real change.

Don’t be the Spammer

We understand and respect that everyone has to make a living. However, telling everyone they can you’re selling 210% organic t-shirts does not qualify as participating in the conversation. The only time this is cool is when trying to help someone who is looking for organic t-shirts. Otherwise, we have a zero-tolerance spam policy and aggressively weed out any commercial content from the conversation.

Help Out

As a famous democrat once said, “It Takes a Village”, and this is definitely true of our community. We would appreciate any help you can lend in either flagging spammers, abusive content or helping to start or mediate a conversation.

Share

Our community will continue to grow provided we all share. Each time you express your ideas and opinions in the form of discussions, reviews, guides or comments our community becomes a richer & more fertile place.
