Stripped. Pulped. And Unread.

Where do overstocked books go? The answer may surprise you.

Somewhere in the depths of the New York Times archive I found a short yet poignant piece of writing.  This article, dated September 6th, 1902, is a meditation on the unsold books which eventually wound up in acid vats.  The writer’s name is George Owen Koch, but the way he waxes poetic about the parallels between the fate of books and the eventual fate of humankind, you’d think he was Percy Shelley.

A veggie burger with truly green roots

The Druid serves up fresh, local fare in Cambridge

Often the only green thing about a plate of pub fare is a wilted piece of parsley or a soggy pickle spear. But thanks to the surprising blend of Brazilian and Irish sensibilities found on the menu at The Druid in Cambridge’s Inman Square, vegetarian locavores don’t have to choose between traditional Irish pub atmosphere and a delicious, sustainable veggie burger.
