CVS is a reliable pharmacy where they almost always have the product you're looking for in stock and if you're patient, and lucky, it's sometimes on sale. The greeting card selection is good when you're in a pinch, and they often have the largest selection of drinks in the downtown area in their coolers, beating other places such as Finagle a Bagel, and comparable to 7-11. They have the pharmacy monopoly downtown, so they are also accessible, almost embarrassingly accessible. Their rewards system gives you quarterly points in CVS dollars on your receipt at printout, so you can essentially earn yourself coupons based on how much you buy over the course of 3 months.

CVS has committed to buying non-toxic cosmetics and also is planning to phase-in less toxic cleaners and greener alternatives in its cleaning products section. In general, CVS has plenty of room to improve in terms of what it offers and how efficient and sustainable the company and its products are. On a side note, on a recent trip to CVS, I told the person at check-out that I didn't need a plastic bag because what I was buying was just one item. I understand that this is not the norm, so sometimes they listen but don't pay attention and bag it anyway. This was the case on the day I was there, and the person at checkout put the item in a bag anyway. When I reminded them that I didn't need a plastic bag, they said, "Oh, yeah, you said that. Right" and took off the plastic bag, not to reuse it, but put it in the trash! That totally countered the whole point of my neglecting a plastic bag.
